Why Full Spectrum Hemp Extract for itch relief?
Cannabinoids, especially CBD, modulate inflammatory responses on a number of immune cells, including mast cells. In vivo and in vitro studies demonstrate a mechanism in which cannabinoids decrease allergic responses, including by reducing histamine release from mast cells. This, in combination with anti-nociceptive potential, can reduce inflammation, itch, and pain caused from minor insect bites.*
Can this product be used to treat allergic reactions?
In no way should full spectrum hemp extract be considered as a substitute or treatment for any person with severe allergic reactions to anything, including insect bites. If someone carries an EpiPen in case of a sting or bite, please continue to do so. And if you suspect a severe allergic reaction or anaphylaxis, go to the emergency room. Ananda Professional’s Bite Balm is formulated to alleviate symptoms from bites that are nuisances, such as itch and pain, and is not appropriate to use in the case of serious or life-threatening reactions.
Why/when would someone purchase this product over other after bite products?
This is a great product for someone looking for a fast-acting, natural alternative to other bite products, such as steroid creams that can lead to skin thinning or atrophy. This product also smells much better. It’s less messy than a cream, so it’s easier to throw in your bag or pocket for an outing.
Is the Bite Balm safe for children and pet use?
While you should use caution, pets may find success with this product, as long as they can tolerate the essential oils in the product.
There are no clinical trials evaluating the safety of topical application in children, but considering concentration and the level of systemic absorption from topical application, the dose of CBD would be very low to generate concern. Without clinical trials or FDA regulation on this specific topic, the use in children cannot be fully. Please consult your pediatrician.
Are there any patients who should not use the Bite Balm product?
Do not use if you are allergic to any ingredients or if you notice a rash or other reaction after application.
